Prophylaxis Care
Dental Hygiene is an important part of your overall healthcare
regimen. Our office is committed to providing you optimum cleanings and regular
evaluations. Detecting issues early is important to maintaining your oral
health, saving your natural teeth and preventing costly dental
emergencies.
Periodontal
Therapy
Periodontal (gum) disease can lead
to more than just an unsightly smile—it can cause loss of teeth and, if left
untreated, eventually cause serious health problems. In its early stages,
periodontal disease (gingivitis)is caused by excessive toxic bacteria (found in
plaque) that attack your mouth’s soft tissues. Early warning signs of the
disease include red, swollen and bleeding gums. If caught early, the damage can
be reversed. If detected late, we can use one of many effective cosmetic
dentistry procedures to restore your mouth to a healthy, beautiful
state.
Tooth-Colored Composite
Restorations
Gone are the days when
tooth ailments and cavities could only be treated with unsightly metal fillings.
Today, modern, tooth-colored fillings made of durable resin or porcelain can be
bonded to your teeth for a stronger, more natural-looking effect. These
revolutionary fillings are virtually undetectable and are easy to apply.
Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain crowns, also known as caps, slide over teeth to hide
misshaping, misalignment, cracks, discoloration, or other imperfections. Crowns
decrease physical discomfort in teeth, look completely natural, and offer extra
support to those that are weak or damaged. They can also vastly improve the
overall appearance of your smile and make your teeth much more
durable..
Porcelain
Inlays/Onlays
Porcelain inlays
and onlays are an excellent solution to cavity pain, reduced chewing strength,
and general degeneration of the back teeth. Virtually indistinguishable from
natural teeth, these fillings restore teeth to an optimal state of health.
Inlays gently fill holes left by decay, while onlays are applied to the entire
surface of the tooth for added reinforcement.
NTI Tension Suppression
System
If you suffer from a
painful, aching jaw, sore and sensitive teeth, a stiff neck, tension headaches,
or morning headaches you owe it to yourself to talk to our doctor about
NTI-tss. This FDA-approved dental device can help alleviate these
problems.
Root Canal
Therapy
Each of our teeth
contains a long, thin strand of dental pulp that extends down to the tooth’s
root. If the pulp becomes infected or injured, the tooth’s nerves die and often,
without endodontic treatment, the tooth dies as well. Root canals are designed
to save such damaged teeth. During the procedure (performed under anesthesia), a
gap is drilled into the tooth’s crown and pulp chamber, diseased pulp is
reshaped or removed, and the tooth is permanently sealed with a gold, porcelain,
or tooth-colored crown.
Fixed
Bridgework
Sometimes a beautiful
smile takes a bit more work. If you notice strain when biting down, pain during
chewing, or difficulty in speaking due to misaligned or missing teeth, bridges
might be the right option for you. They work by literally bridging the gaps
between missing teeth, closing spaces with durable, injury-resistant,
realistic-looking artificial teeth. Because they are semi-permanent, bridges can
be removed only by a dentist, but are long-lasting and strong.
Implant
Restorations
Dental implants are an
excellent solution to missing individual teeth. Not only do they eliminate gaps,
but they also provide a comfortable fit and look completely natural. In
addition, because they don't require the cutting down of neighboring teeth--as
bridges do--implants allow for maximum bone preservation in the areas
surrounding the implant sites. No other method of tooth replacement prevents
bone loss or stimulates bone growth.
Dental implants attach artificial teeth
below the gumline and are
recommended for patients with sufficient bone growth and healthy
gums. An anchor secures
the implant in place and allows the bone and gums to grow
around
it. After a period known as osseointegration, in which the implant heals within
the jawbone, a new crown is attached to the implant. The entire process takes
four to six months.
